Dinner Party for 4

On Monday, we were so excited to have Stephen and Shanda over for a dinner party. Mostly we were excited to use this tiered tray that Mike and Amanda had given us for Christmas. It probably wasn't the best meal to serve on this posh little piece, but we just wanted a reason to pull it out and use it.

The food was delish! We served sesame chicken with white rice and edamame. It was Stephen and Shanda's first introduction to edamame. There was none left at the end of dinner....so I think it is safe to say they were pleasantly surprised by it.

Wishing we were closer

Yesterday Brian was sustained and set apart as a counselor in the Bishopric of our ward.

I was so proud of him.

I kept winking at him while he was sitting on the stand. I asked him after if he saw me. He said he did, but he didn't want to wink back because the entire stake presidency and 3 high councilmen were in attendance and he felt like everyone was staring at him. So he didn't want anyone to think he was winking at them.

The other counselor getting set apart had his parents, grand-parents, and in-laws there.

Brian had me.

I guess I didn't really give it a lot of thought until I saw all of the other families there. (but they were all from around this area.... Philadelphia and Tri-Cities are a lot further away)

It would have been great to have family there to help set him apart.

But it was still a great day.

Hopefully in the future we will be able to live closer to our families.

We are grateful for technology and the ability to talk to our family on the phone. My dad called Brian's phone last night to tell him how proud he was of Brian. That made Brian feel very special. When I hung up the phone, Brian asked me if my dad told me how cool Brian was. I told him my dad didn't need to tell me that Brian was cool, I already knew that. But Brian thinks very highly of Papa Pope and so that phone call meant a lot to him. Thanks dad.

Today we were able to go to the Temple. It is so nice to only be 2 miles away from the Lord's house. We always come away feeling rejuvenated and more in love with each other.

For Our First Anniversary We Went To...

It's True!!! We went to Paris!

Well not really, but Brian surprised me and took me to this cute little hotel with only 14 rooms and they were all themed. Our room was Paris. Isn't it cute?

When we got to our room, there was sparkling cider in an ice bucket and two pieces of cheesecake in the fridge. This was seriously the best hotel!

Our shower was in the Eiffel Tower. Pretty cool!
They brought us breakfast in bed, which was a surprise to us. It was so yummy!
For Brian, I did the Blog book, which turned out awesome! And I also made him a jar with all these little coupons for massages and reasons of why I love and appreciate him. It is for him to take to work, so when he is in a grumpy mood he can take one out and read it and then feel happy!

Brian also got me a dozen roses. (although it was midnight before Valentines day, and I was with him) But it's the thought that counts, right?
And the most amazing surprise of the day was Brian's BIG present for me. I was shocked when I opened a black box that had a wedding band for my ring in it. And then I told him it was so beautiful but...it looked a little weird because with my ring, one band just made it look uneven. So then he went back into our bedroom and brought out another black box. This box had a second band in it!!! It was supposed to be saved for my birthday. Uh oh. Sorry Brian.....I didn't mean to ruin my birthday present. But he agreed that it looked weird with just one band. So now I have the most gorgeous bling on my finger. It was already gorgeous without the bands...but now it is just stunning. Thank You Thank You Thank You!!! You spoiled me way to much this year!

So it was a Very Happy 1st Anniversary and Valentines Day!!!

Monumental

This is my 50th post on my blog! Hopefully I can continue to blog on a regular basis, as this is my only written record of the daily happenings in our life.

On a fun note, I am excited to make Brian Valentine Cookies in the next couple days. Brian loves sugar cookies (me, not so much). But this is the holiday of LOVE. And since I LOVE Mr. Robbert, I will make him these cute little things. (hopefully mine will look this good)

Today

Today I have been thinking about a lot of different people.

Today I miss my dad.
I wish I could get a big bear hug from him. (He gives the best hugs)
Today I realized I don't talk to my dad very often.
I talk to my mom on an almost daily basis, but not my dad.
I don't know why.
I think I will call him today.

Today I was also thinking about how attractive Brian is. Dang. I done good.
Today I was also missing my girl friends. Stacy (far left) is in NYC. I miss having lunch dates with her. I miss seeing her in class everyday. I miss talking to her about everything. I miss working with her. I miss seeing her big smile everyday and hearing her laugh.

Today I read Brighton's blog. I like Brighton. We should get together sometime soon :) (i know you will read this Brighton, so let's plan something)

Today I miss Orchid (next to me on the left). She is just an awesome awesome girl. I miss getting ready in the mornings with her while listening to music. But luckily she lives in Rexburg and I'm going to go see her today!

Today I also miss my Ruthie (on my right)! I miss laying on her bed and talking until the wee hours of the morning. I miss eating cereal at midnight with her. Maryland is too far away.

Yesterday I was texting Amber. I miss her too. But hopefully we will start working out together soon since she just got a membership at the gym I go to! Yay!

Today I miss Lindsay (far right). Lindsay was the very first person I met at school. She was my first roommate. I miss her and Travis and Sydney. It's not very often that you and your husband both get along with another couple so well like we did with Linds and Trav. Georgia is really far away too. I could go there right about now and get out of this winter weather.

This last picture makes me really excited!!! I just turned our blog into a book for Brian and I's first anniversary. This picture will be on the front cover. I can't wait for it to come in the mail. I can't wait to surprise Brian with it! He never reads our blog, so hopefully he won't see this and ruin the surprise. Wow....happy anniversary to us in 10 days.

Happy Thursday to you all! Tomorrow is Friday!
