So I realize it's been almost 3 weeks since Brian's accident and have yet to post an update. In my defense it has been a crazy 3 weeks with Brian missing a week of work, doctors appointments, and then closing on our house and moving in. Enough excuses though.
Brian is feeling a little better each day. After seeing all the different doctors, they have all said that Brian won't need surgery. YAY! (big sigh of relief) It's been 3 weeks since the incident occurred. He still has pain in his face and mostly eye region, which we expected. The first week he stayed home home from work and rested. The second week he worked mostly half days and then came home exhausted. And now that he is in his 3rd week of recovery he is working full days, but not nearly as long of days as he working before breaking his face.
So all in all, it has been as good as we could have hoped. We will have a couple follow ups in 6 months to see about any long term damage to his eye, but other than that he is in the clear. We still never got definite answers on how long it will take for those bones to heal, but they did recommend not playing any sports for at least 8 weeks. HA. Pretty sure we're going to start planning his retirement party from any type of sport that MAY involve contact. As the emergency room doctor said, "You should probably stick to just playing poker from now on." Good call doc:)
As you can see, he has had some major face discoloration. But I think in the next week it will basically all be gone. (These pictures are from a week ago, it's looking much better today)
