a little behind

We are getting back into the swing of things since getting back from our holiday travels.

We had a lot of fun taking our niece's bowling, playing Candyland, watching Despicable Me, going shopping, seeing True Grit, eating at Rodizios Grill, playing Uno Flash, and going to Costco and being aloud to buy anything we wanted for New Years Eve....

We are looking forward to an exceptional 2011!!!

Emily Grace

We were so lucky to be in town when our new niece, Emily Grace Robbert was blessed over Christmas break! Although you can't see her very well in this picture, she is absolutely adorable and we loved stealing her away from her parents to hold her while we there.

MacGyver Skills

Today Brian decided to tinker with our pepper grinder that we've owned for almost 2 years. We have never been that happy with it's performance. But after messing around with it and not having the right tools to fix it, he pulled out a paper clip and fixed it in 5 minutes. Now if you ask me, that is some mad MacGyver skills:)

On a side note: I am trying to gather addresses to send Christmas Cards out in the next couple weeks. I may have already contacted you through facebook, but if I didn't, I would still love to send you one. So just leave a comment with your address, or text it to me and I'll be sure to get one in the mail to you.

How to Fight Away the Winter Blues

Sometimes in the winter it feels like we just never want to go outside.

It's just too cold.

But on Saturday some friends called us and wanted to go shooting.

So we got all bundled up in our snow gear and drove outside of town.

I've been shooting before but I'm always a little nervous to feel the kickback on the first shot. Then I get used to it and have a lot of fun.

Thanks for taking us Richie and Linda!

Too much of a good thing?

I say if you live in Rexburg, Idaho where it is winter 8 months out of the year, then you are allowed to have 12 scarves.

Amazingly with all these scarves, I do not have any with fall colors. No orange/red/yellow in my collection. I suppose that means I need a few more...

And just in case you're wondering...I do wear them ALL!

Over and Out

We are headed to Washington tomorrow for a funeral.
Funerals are not fun, but at least we will get to see family.
Gotta look at the upside of things, right?

Before we leave, here is a small update of what we've been up to lately...

Brian has been busy studying, going to class, writing training manuals for work, giving a talk in church with an hours notice, going to his best friends football games every Saturday, doing homework, and still finds time to take his wife out on a date every once in a while :)

Jaclyn has been busy cleaning the house, doing laundry, writing website content for hotels in San Juan Puerto Rico and day dreaming about going on vacation somewhere warm, singing in the ward choir, and trying to keep her husband sane and happy :)

All in all, I am happy to report that the Robbert's are doing well! The longer we are married, the more we learn about each other and the happier we are together. It really is true that love grows with time.

Like Pulling Teeth

Getting my husband to go take pictures with me was actually fairly simply...

He loves having the pictures once they are done.

I'm so glad we were able to do this before it snowed. And the best part was that my best friend Sarah (who is not a photographer, but did a dang good job) took them for us and I edited them, so it was totally free!

Perfect for that Sweet Tooth

I had some leftover canned pumpkin that I needed to use so I started looking for recipes. I came across this recipe for pumpkin bars in my mother-in-laws recipe book. I added chocolate chips and it was seriously delicious. Soft, moist, light, sweet, perfectly delectable!!! Here's the recipe in case you want to make it. Oh, and did I mention that it's so easy and fast to make?!

16 oz pumpkin
4 eggs
1 & 2/3 C sugar
1 C oil
Beat first four ingredients until fluffy, then add:
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
2 C flour
Mix all ingredients together. (It's a pretty liquidy batter)
Then I sprinkled Chocolate Chips on top. You could also mix them into the batter.

Pour batter onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 min. (I only cooked mine for 20 minutes because my oven runs hot)

Then eat it up. It makes a lot, so you may want to share....or not :)

Halloween Happenings 2010

Can you tell who is the artistic one in this marriage?

Definitely Brian. His witch on a broomstick is way better than my bat.

I'm so glad Brian indulges me when I want to make themed meals.

I'm not gonna lie though, these deviled egg eyeballs totally creeped me out and I had to look away while eating them. We also had "mummy dogs". Hot dogs wrapped in roll dough....that looked like a mummy :)

This year we dressed up as Jelly Belly's.
We even wore them to work and I got 2nd place in the costume contest!

We had a great Halloween Weekend. We hope you did too!

New Addition

Brian recently decided to get braces on his bottom teeth.

At first it felt like we lost 10+ years and went back to pre-teen years.
Luckily oily skin, awkward voice changes, and baby fat didn't accompany this new addition.

I'm excited to see his smile get even bigger than it already is to show off his new strait pearly whites!

Crisp.

Something about Fall is just so refreshing.

I am loving the crisp air, crunchy leaves, and delicious apples.

I found this picture which was taken exactly one year ago this week.

I love it.

The boys came out of church and immediately starting romping around in the leaves...including my husband. Dress clothes and all.

We skipped work on Friday and ran away to Montana.

We did lots of fun things including...

Throwing tomahawks....

Cracking the whip...

Doing hair...

Learning to sew...

Going to the corn maze...

Riding a cow...

Or being pulled by a 4 wheeler in a cow mechanism...

Racing on bikes...

And working on the tree house...
We also did yard work, ate elk burgers, and jumped on the trampoline.

I would say it was a success!

Thanks for coming to visit Mom! We always love hanging out with you.

What A Wonderful Weekend

We were busy busy busy this past weekend.

After coming home on Friday to find that "Blue" had passed away on us, we had to hurry and get ready to go to our ward temple night. When we got home from the temple at 10:15, we had to start canning peaches. They were ripe and ready to go and we knew we wouldn't have a lot of time on Saturday so we just worked at it until 1:30 in the morning. It really wasn't too bad because Brian was a great helper....even though I burned his elbow really bad when I took the lid off the pot of boiling water and the steam got him. Woops!

It was my first time canning by myself and I was really worried the jars weren't going to seal, but thankfully they ALL did. Don't you love when you hear that first one POP?

Then after we finished with the peaches, I had to get to bed because I was throwing a baby shower for one of my best friends in the morning.

Orchid is due in about a month! She looks amazing.

Orchid and Sarah will always be some of my very best friends!

Then Saturday night we set Sarah up with one of Brian's co-workers and we all went on a double date. It was a lot of fun going down to Idaho Falls and going to dinner with Sarah and Aaron.

I wish it could just be the weekend all the time...
